Student Experience

The USC Sol Price School of Public Policy’s online Executive Master of Urban Planning program allows you to advance your education — with USC Price’s on-campus quality — from anywhere. This includes live classes, two in-person intensives designed to integrate with a busy schedule, continuous student support and an on-campus graduation ceremony.

An Interactive Learning Format

Live, Online Classes

As an online student, you will attend live, face-to-face classes on our videoconferencing technology. Each class is recorded and made available online so that you can review discussions at any time. Class sizes are kept small — an approximate 15:1 student-to-faculty ratio — to encourage close collaboration and rich discussion between you and your peers. Faculty are available for office hours outside of class.

Immersive Course Content

Course content is designed to be fully immersive while allowing you the flexibility to complete assignments on your own time. This begins with classes delivered on our video technology — which provides a forum for a continuous, real-time exchange of ideas between students and professors — and continues with experiential coursework, like video case studies and group assignments. Coursework can be accessed from anywhere through your computer or the mobile app.

Intensives

The curriculum includes two four-day intensives to help you build skills in person and network with your peers and faculty. Intensives offer experiences like analyzing a planning project and developing recommendations, working in a studio setting, visiting a development site and learning techniques in data visualization.

Dedicated Student Support

Career Services

Career support is offered throughout the program to ensure you’re on track to meet your goals. Our Career Services team provides a variety of support opportunities, including one-on-one career coaching, a library of career resources (interview guides, resume tips and video demos), information sessions, career fairs and networking events. Review our Career Services calendar here.

Technical and Academic Resources

Student support is available from the moment you request information about the program through graduation and beyond. This includes technical support to help you get acclimated to online learning as well as course planning, academic resources and orientation sessions.

WeWork Access

As a student, you will be granted a Global Access membership to WeWork. This includes access to any WeWork location; all WeWork amenities (including work stations, Wi-Fi, power outlets, printing and copying, lounges and kitchens, private phone booths, refreshments and on-site support staff); the WeWork community, which offers meetups and events; and work spaces available through the WeWork app or website.
