At USC Sol Price School of Public Policy, we are dedicated to increasing access to a high-quality public administration education. We offer several scholarships that are awarded to applicants who demonstrate the potential to become leaders in local government and public policy.
Applicants can submit scholarship materials with their application to the online Master of Public Administration (MPA) program. These materials will be reviewed by the admissions committee along with the rest of the application. To find out if you qualify for any of the below scholarship opportunities, reach out to your admissions counselor.
Dean’s Merit Scholarship
The Dean’s Merit Scholarship is USC Price’s flagship scholarship, and it is now available to applicants to USC’s online MPA program. Awards are based on academic merit, and generally range from half to full tuition. They are renewable for the student’s second year in the program, assuming satisfactory academic progress. Applicants who qualify for the GRE waiver are not eligible to receive the Dean’s Merit Scholarship.
To apply, please submit a 300-word essay directly through the online application that answers the following questions:
- Why are you considering completing your graduate studies at USC’s Sol Price School of Public Policy?
- Which USC Price faculty are you interested in working with, and why?
- What do you consider USC Price’s most unique features to be?
Each semester, USC Price will offer a limited number of Professional Scholarships to students beginning the online MPA program. To be considered for the Professional Scholarship, you must write a 200-word essay that explains:
- Your previous experience related to city/county management, local government or public policy
- Your potential for a successful career in those fields
- How receiving this professional scholarship will assist you in achieving your career goals
To apply, you must submit your essay directly through the online application and indicate if you intend to pursue one of two certificates — in city/county management for local government or public policy — during the program.
Unlike the other MPA scholarship opportunities, Agency Affiliations do not require a dedicated application. Applicants must indicate their affiliation to one of the following organizations by checking the corresponding box in the application:
- City Hall Fellow
- Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute
